Jess-The-Dragoon's News

Posted by Jess-The-Dragoon - April 16th, 2013

In my previous post, I mentioned about the idea of creating an Animation Club or some kinda animator index in the NG forum. People say why bother when there's already a collabinator. Well, I've come across many people who don't actually have the intention to become a member of Newgrounds signing up for an account here just to pm an animator they'd like to have animate their project or even hire to animate their project. Most animators are centered at Newgrounds due to the fact that Newgrounds is practically the ONLY site that accepts flash movies, and at the same time, letting its members socialize.

So to make things easier for producers and at the same time, providing more opportunities for Newgrounds animators, I came up with the idea of gathering animators here at NG by listing their skills, portfolios and contact info, preferably in the NG Forum, so that people, especially those outside NG, can easily find and contact them without necessarily signing up.

Of course this club/index would be for ANIMATORS ONLY. The idea is still playing in my head. So far I've tried posting in the NG forum about this but no one was interested. Some say I posted in an unsuitable section of the forum.

So should try posting again or should I take this whole idea out of NG somewhere else? Or should I just forget it? ?_?
Kindly leave your feedback in the comments.

Welp that's all folks! ;)

================================================
=============================

So recently I've been thinking about creating an animation club where animators can share their works and info with other animators or people who are interested in animation. Something like an animation community. I'm also thinking that it could also be a place where people can find animators for their projects easily without searching at random places online. Newgrounds doesn't seem to have like a list of NG animators posted anywhere where people who what to find animators on NG can browse and find suitable animators for their projects. I started a thread at the Newgrounds Clubs & Crews forum section for that(since NG is the only site I can think of that allows animation uploads and is also popular) but then it got locked by a moderator. According to him, there's no point for such a club because NG already has an Animation Forum and a Collabinator. But that's just according to his humble opinion. So I thought that if I were to get more opinions/thoughts about this whole Animation Club idea from YOU Newgrounds users, I might be able to decide if it's really something good and practical to setup. Feel free to post your opinions in the comments below. ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

Been busy with a lot of things. Didn't know this year would start like ball launched off by a pin in a pinball box and maintain its momentum. Mah big bwo Josh made a game called Renga Samurai. Personally, I am heavily influenced by Japanese culture and stuff and my personal favorite is the Samurai figure. So I insisted on designing the graphics for this game. Besides, I haven't drawn a samurai in years!

Renga Samurai is a puzzle game where you get to cut bricks (called Renga in Japanese) to fit them into a bunch of random shapes.

EDIT: Walkthrough now available here:

Lastly.... I'll also be TRYING to upload some art here on NG.

I know the Gangnam fad has almost vanished. Some people hate it, some are obsessed by it. Personally, I'm not a fan and neither am I a hater. Now its the Chinese New Year festive season and the Chinese people where I live are crazy about it. It's like an annual fad here. Along with it, there are still traces of the Gangnam Style fad here so mah big bro had this crazy idea to mix both fads together. This was what resulted from it.

He wrote the lyrics(in the Hokkien dialect), composed the song and sang it. I did the animation. Before this music vid, he used that song in a gangnam-style-themed flash game he made. My bro actually thought I wasn't gonna complete this music vid in time for chinese new year. But I did anyway by finishing it within 2 and a half weeks before CNY. When I uploaded it, the reception was quite good and over chinese new year, it got quite viral amongst the chinese mainly in Singapore and Malaysia. However, youtube was mean because even though all the content in this music video were practically original (meaning self-made), it marked this as a third-party content match. I didn't want to dispute the claim because I wasn't sure if it would make it not viewable or not.

But since you're reading this on Newgrounds, you can view it here: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/610969 I know Chinese New Year is not something to fuss about in the you guys in the western countries but I know you a lot of guys love parodies. So hope you guys enjoy it! :)

But anyway, PSY is coming to Penang, Malaysia! Wow couldn't believe a world-famous superstar like him would consider touring here with his concert until I found out he has invited by the government.

So much for spamming about voting for my animation but lost in the end. *meh* >_>

Anyway, throughout January 2013, I was doing a series of videos to fill my youtube channel. The series of videos is called Draw Against Time.

I planned to do something not spammy, quick, somewhat useful and at the same time challenging so that I don't get bored doing them. So I decided to record myself drawing against time. Just pen, paper and art. No erasing and the videos are uncut throughout the drawing process. I've successfully achieved 30 videos in one month. Here's the entire Draw Against Time playlist. I also accept suggestions to draw for the video series so if you have any suggestions, drop them in the video comments. DON'T MESSAGE THEM TO ME ON NG. I DON'T CHECK NG MESSAGES OFTEN AND I DON'T DRAW PORN!

Also, I'm in the NG Collabinator list so if you wanna collab with me, please check out the list.

I'll be uploading some art stuff these coming days while finishing another animation....
